Are you contemplating filing bankruptcy?  If so than you will need to hire a bankruptcy law firm in order to complete the process.  Bankruptcy is a legal process where by individuals and businesses can eliminate or repay some or all of their debts under the protection of the federal bankruptcy court.  In general, bankruptcies can be divided into two types,  reorganization and liquidation.

Bankruptcy law firms have attorneys who have total knowledge of the complex bankruptcy laws.  Filing bankruptcy should only be handled by a team of lawyers that specialize in the bankruptcy law.  Bankruptcy law firms can represent both individual and business debtors, however it may be best to hire a company that specializes in the bankruptcy that you will be filing, either personal or business.  A bankruptcy law firm helps you file a bankruptcy petition. The petition is filed and submitted to the court. After the court has approved the bankruptcy claim, notices are sent out to all creditors. The creditors are required to stop any collection efforts.

What to look for when hiring a bankruptcy law firm

When searching for a bankruptcy law firm, you will want to find a company that offers a free consultation.  This way you can sit down with an attorney and learn about the bankruptcy process.  The attorney should be able to answer any questions you may have.  You should try to interview at least a couple different attorneys so you can make a decision about which one is right for you. You may also want to talk to some other individuals who have used the lawyers you are thinking of using.

You will also want to hire a firm that has years of experience in your area.  You will be meeting with the attorneys on a regular basis, so the closer to home you are, the less time it will take.  You will also want to find an law firm that fits within your budget.  Just because a bankruptcy law firm is advertising on your local TV channels, doesn’t mean they are the right team of attorneys for you.
